SHAWNA ALLISON BECENTI

Clans: Táchii’nii (Red Running into the Water clan), ‘Áshįįhi (Salt People Clan), Mą‘ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass clan), Tł‘ógi (Hairy Ones or Weaver-Zia clan). Clans serve as an integral part of Shawna’s identity. Similar to how one may introduce themselves by stating their name and where they are from, clans help establish who she is and where she comes from while creating a connection to others.

Shawna serves as the current Head of School at Navajo Preparatory School, the leader for LOV NAVAJO KIDS, and the president of LOV. To share a moment with Shawna is to be captivated by her infectious joy and life-long commitment to giving back. The foundations of her current work include education, culture, and leadership.

We share the belief that money, geography, and race create a divide within the volleyball community. We will work together to bridge the gaps and provide access to the sport of volleyball within Navajo Nation’s community.

As programming becomes available for LOV Navajo Nation Kids, check out our programming registration page for more information.

A word from our Founder:

“I would like to thank Shawna and Nana Allison and the whole Allison family; the kids in Navajo Nation and Kirtland Central High School. Shawna and Nana are two of the hardest working souls I know and your integrity is limitless. During my time in Navajo Nation I was able to grow immensely- Nana provided me my first coaching job and she further brought out the “dog” in me that fueled me through many years of high-level volleyball (my M.O. if you will), and Shawna was the perfect example of youth, fun, and the desire to enjoy life- while fighting for what’s right. These foundational values are rooted in Shawna’s character, and subsequently, mine. My connection with the two of you is pure and will continue beating through our veins.

I would also like to thank:

  • Corinne Jameson and Dave Stokes of Durango, CO.

    • For your support, your competitive spirits, and appreciation for individuality. Our times playing and enjoying together, and also for your guidance that has been integral in my development as a human being.

  • The girls at Ignacio High School

    • One of the hardest working teams I’ve EVER had the pleasure to coach.

  • Brian Lucht of Sandia, NM.

    • For always being a genuine helper.

You've all played an integral part in my growth as a human and a leader, and you are some of the main reasons as to why LOV has come to fruition. With your love and support, LOV has seen great success and will continue to do so for years to come.

This mission is an ode to your people, your land, and the never-ending fight for equality.
